Details

Who: Groups with participants ages 6 years and up such as Scouts, schools, community groups, corporate groups, etc.

  • Group Size: Minimum = 20 participants. Maximum = 50 participants
  • Chaperones: For groups with children, one adult chaperone for every 5 participants is required. For the success of the event, we ask that chaperones stay with their group at all times and make sure they are following the rules of the group and the Zoo. Chaperones should avoid using their phones unless taking pictures or in an emergency.

What: Bring a tent (if using), sleeping bag/bedding, change of clothes, basic toiletries, reusable water bottle, insect repellant, closed-toe walking shoes

When: Available Friday or Saturday nights.

  • Time: The adventure begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends the next morning at 8:30 a.m.

Where:

  • Participants will hike across Zoo grounds and into the forest preserve to see a bat cave and pollinator prairie
  • Snooze Spot 1: Pitch your own tents in the Outdoor Conservation Classroom or for larger groups on the Zoo’s Festival Lawn. If weather requires, sleep indoors in the Discovery Center.
  • Snooze Spot 2: Sleep indoors in the climate-controlled Discovery Center and Conservation Classroom.

How much: Fee: $65/person (child or adult) includes evening snacks (smores, hot dogs, chips) and a light breakfast.

Preparation & Timeline

Scheduling: Reservations must be made with a minimum of 4 weeks advance notice in order to arrange staff and purchase supplies.

 Payment: The balance is due two weeks before the overnight. Prior to final payment being made, you may adjust the number of participants.

  • Once your balance payment has been submitted, the number of participants cannot be adjusted and it is up to your group to fill all of the spaces reserved.
  • No refunds are issued unless Niabi Zoo cancels the event.

Safety and Security

  • Supervision – at least 2 Zoo staff members will be present at all times to direct activities, tours, and stay throughout the night.
  • Zoo Snooze is a “lock-in” event. During the event time, participants will not be able to leave the Zoo unless in the event of an emergency.
