Trophic Specialist

This interesting fish has elongated jaws which allow it to pick up small benthic crustaceans including shrimp, crabs, brittle stars and small fishes along the coral reef and rocky crevices. It travels at high speeds while foraging for food.

Ecology

Inhabiting coral reefs, lagoons and seaward reefs, this fish will swim through depths of 2 to 30 meters. Juveniles on occasion may be found in sea grasses. Their activity budget is diurnal and they may be found in large aggregations or alone.
