Title: Partnerships between research, schools and communities: Holistic long-term conservation of the chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, Uganda.

Description: Successful conservation depends on the buy-in of local people. Great education and good health for their children is helping raise a new generation of local conservationists. With ties to the research community through the Kibale Chimpanzee Project, the Kasiisi Project also supports more immediate conservation efforts such as snare removal and research into transmission of disease between humans and chimpanzees. Long term, dependable investment in those services people value most, lead to the trusting relationships critical to building strong conservation partnerships.
