New Junior Zoo Keeper Application Part 1

  • Communication will be conducted primarily by email, directly with the applicant. Please be sure the email listed is one the applicant will be able to check regularly throughout the summer.
  • 8th, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior
  • We highly recommend you view the Junior Zoo Keeper Information Session video before completing your application so you are aware of the requirements of the program. Did you watch the Information Session video?
  • Choose at least 3 dates and time blocks you would be available for your interview. You may select more than 3. Interviews will be virtual using Zoom and will last approximately 20 minutes. You will answer 7 questions and give a 2 minute presentation. Presentation guidelines will be provided with your interview confirmation email.
  • If selected, candidates must complete 2 on-line and 2 in-person training courses for a total of 4 trainings. Please select one of each training below. Note: there are 2 opportunities to attend trainings 3 and 4, but you only need to select one of each.

  • For your essay, write between 250-300 words (3 paragraphs) that answer the following: * If given the opportunity, what do you hope to gain from your experience volunteering at the Niabi Zoo? * Describe any experience you have had with animals (working with, caring for pets, etc.) * Explain any experiences you have had dealing with the public. * What role do you think Zoos play and why do they matter?
